In the 2021 CFL Global Draft which was on April 15th 2021 the CFL’s Ottawa Redblacks drafted four players with one pick in each of the four rounds. Ending up with receiver Anthony Mahoungou who was, without a doubt the best receiver available in the CFL’s Global Draft, having played at the University of Purdue and had experience with the NFL’s Philadelphia Eagles, as well as other division one talents Tyron Vrede at linebacker and Cincinnati offensive lineman Chris Ferguson. The team also brought in defensive back Tony Anderson in the fourth round of the CFL Global draft before bringing in linebacker Ryan David Gomes following the draft as an un-drafted free agent.
The Ottawa Redblacks have signed 3 of the 4 CFL Globals drafted in the April 15th draft while also bringing in Ryan David Gomes to compete alongside Tyron Verde, a Global linebacker out of North Dakota.
Signing these Global players is the most recent news of the Ottawa Redblacks, however they have been preparing a lot to break more news with the 2021 CFL Draft just two sleeps away coming on Tuesday May 4th. The Ottawa Redblacks will have a pick in each of the six rounds on Tuesday night and will aim to continue to improve their roster like they have all off-season following the poor 2019 season where they went 3-15.
